Just got word that a favorite Thai restaurant in my neighborhood - TopicsExpress

Just got word that a favorite Thai restaurant in my neighborhood (a current playground for many of the profligate carpetbagging over-paid tech twats that have over-run San Francisco and priced longtime citizens out of the city) is closing its doors on Tuesday after decades of providing tasty, occasionally exotic and always reasonably-priced food to the locals. Some greedy, speculating a-hole bought the building and is more than tripling the rent from $4000 a month to -- get ready! -- $13,000 a month. Thus, bye-bye Thai. Then again, in a city where a gallon of water now costs $2, a cup of cold-brewed coffee sells for $5, and the new quasi-molecular gastronomy joint charges $23 for a plate of chanterelle mushrooms mixed with corn and potatoes that are creamed in carrot juice, should I really be surprised? S.F. is my town and a real beauty, but the invaders are ruining it for many. Glad to be heading back to L.A. in a few days, even if my love for the Giants is undiminished. I caint quit yuh, San Fran - but you and your creepy, self-entitled immigrants are trying my patience.
