Just got word that a fellow Ahwahnee Scout Camp staffer has passed away. John Gezelius was a good man with a kind heart, and I have a firm enough testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ to know that he is fine. It is selfish, I know, but I feel worse for me than I do for him. He is one of too many people in my life that would have been faithful friends but for geography. He was there, and I am here. I dont want to lose my other long distance friends without them knowing how much I appreciate them. I know, its inevitable. I could make a lengthy list here but I wont for fear of excluding someone. Some of you would probably be surprised to know you were on that list! But to my Calhi friends, my scouting friends, my cross country and track team members, my teachers, my co-workers, people I have met on the trails, my Hoodlum friends, my Texas Hoodlum friends, my church friends, thank you all for being a part of my life, and I am more sorry than words can say that I cannot put my arms around each one of you on a regular basis and tell you that I love you. R.I.P John. You and Smokey keep the campfire burning. God be with you till we meet again...
