Just got word via David Michael Perich that singer Laurel Ward from Delta MB and a graduate of Portage Collegiate Institute has passed away. She struggled with health issues for several years. Laurel enjoyed a solo career appearing on many Canadian television shows before joining Dr. Music where she sang on many of their hits. She later teamed up with former teen idol Terry Black and together they enjoyed an international hit with Going Down On The Road To LA. Ive attached the story I wrote on her a couple of years back for Prime Times in my Whatever Happened To series. Laurel was a lovely lady and a talented singer whose spirit remained strong despite a debilitating illness. She definitely left her mark. Check out manitobamusicmuseum
