Just had a coffee with my youngest daughter who is a doctor. Talking about the state of mental health care in this country she told me that she had to section somebody recently and the only psychiatric bed available in the whole country was in Cornwall - the patient was in Lancashire. Weve money for roads and tax breaks for the rich but not enough to look after the mentally ill. 8 suicides in this country last year - young patients waiting for beds who would have been saved had they been in hospital. Lower than vermin.
