Just had a heart-breaking conversation with a Veteran. After ordering food shopping, hygiene products and clothing for him, we called him back to let him know to expect deliveries tomorrow and Thursday, he began to say thank you but had to choke back tears of utter relief. He has recently been housed by our friends at Help for Homeless Veterans (Tom Wood and co) and has nothing more than the clothes on his back. Thanks to Tom, he has a roof over his head but due to DWP red tape, he has no income as yet to sort new clothes or food shopping. And now he has new warm clothing and footwear on its way, a host of hygiene products and a ton of food to get him and his flat mate (also a Veteran) through the next 2-3 weeks including a cracking Christmas dinner. Thanks to the support of our wonderful volunteers and donors, things like this can happen for those who have served and deserve so much more!
