Just had a lovely conversation with my nurse about narrative charting. We both agreed that we miss the golden days of traditional story telling ala patient care. I can remember as a young nurse learning the trade, we kept meticulous notes either on paper or in our heads, which would mature into detailed portraits inside of a patient chart, once our shift was over and we had the time to put pen to paper. EMRs may be modern, quick, convenient and "more detailed", but the rhythm and timing element, the cadence of human care is missing...
