Just had a negotiation with a new bar in town , who will go unmentioned . They wanted Audible Clique to come and play for an evening , 8-12 , 3 sets , the standard thing we do . The monetary offer was $100 and 10% of bar sales , plus be fed and beveraged . Really ?! That is all that a good band is worth to them for a 4 hour gig ? Delivering pizzas for 4 hours would be more profitable than playing that show , its disappointing how little value is placed on what it takes to make something like this happen . Do bands really need gigs so badly they will take this deal ?!?! Is that all that you feel your efforts are worth ? If so , quit playing live , youre making it harder for the rest of us who work hard at their craft and would like to get paid accordingly ! No self-respecting bands that I know would take such an insulting offer ! Crappy bands will lead to a crappy reputation which will lead to another bar who tried and failed to have live music , without a clue as to what it requires to have GOOD music in your establishment .
