Just had a very exciting experience with what may have been a microburst here at the cottage west of Kazabazua. The sky to the west darkened a bit and that was the only warning. It was like the shock wave from a bomb, with a dull roar and the sound of tree limbs groaning and snapping as it came closer. You could see tree leaves rippling as it approached. With no time to react, we watched the wind tear three large branches from a 60-foot oak tree in front of the cottage, which sits down a slope about 40 feet closer to the lake. No other damage except a smaller true that was uprooted and dropped on the beach. It rained hard for about 5 min. I had just been checking the Doppler radar picture and it seems to have been a small cell that was part of a long line of activity, and the cell popped up only on the last frame of the radar animation. Quite an eye-opener, as I always watch the weather and this one literally came from nowhere! We still have no power here but that was not unexpected.
