Just had a very frustrating phone conversation with Budget Car - TopicsExpress

Just had a very frustrating phone conversation with Budget Car Rental. My wife went to Florida for a few days so I prepaid a car rental for $102.00 Then I see a charge on my credit card for another $236.00. They are telling me it is because she signed accepting the insurance. I know from experience that these signature pads are tricky and the counter person is very quick at trying to get you to sign everything. She checked accept instead of decline, instead of being asked the question "Do you want insurance". Be aware because these car rental places have really become sneaky and underhanded. I told the representative that we never take the insurance since our policy covers car rentals. She said oh but that would cover your deductible if you have one. I said so do you think I would pay $236.00 to protect myself from possibly paying $500 out of pocket if I was in an accident? Really? Are you a moron? That is when the call ended. Guess I should of stopped at Really! The other thing to be careful about is verifying the return time of the vehicle. They now have it down to the hour. If you book online make sure you accurately put in what time you are returning the car. Better later than earlier because they charge you $10.00 per hour each hour you are late. Yes I said $10.00 per hour. But if you include it in your booking the cost is minimal. "Caveat Emptor"- Buyer beware.
