Just had a whirlwind tour of the northern end of my 100km food - TopicsExpress

Just had a whirlwind tour of the northern end of my 100km food bowl - Byron Bay. I visited a work in progress called The Farm. Its a pop up shop on Ewingsdale Road, the northern road into Byron. The story of The Farm - Basically a cashed up foodie bought a cheese company (previously Bangalow Cheese), and merged it with a butter and garlic company. He has moved the production of all three companies to the Ewingsdale Road farm, where a restaurant, cafe, dairy factories, mobile free range chicken run and massive kitchen gardens are all under construction. The aim is for the farm to feed the new restaurant and potentially other restaurants and cafés in the region. Its quite an exciting, ambitious and expensive enterprise to watch unfold. I wish them all the best and cant wait to dine at The Farms completely local restaurant some time soon. I also visited a cafe in Byrons industrial estate called 100 Mile Table which is quite self explanatory and the perfect place for me to eat a totally legit local lunch. Thanks Byron Bay. Your local food movement is amazing and growing.
