Just had an email from school with concerns about attendance after JJ has been off Ill for 5 days. Sent back this email in response to the request for medical proof for every absence and their suggestion that if he isnt happy at school or we have home issues we would like to discuss? Dont know about anyone else but I cant wait to get him to school every day so I can get on with working and afford to feed him! Was this a bit much? Dear ..... Jayden has had a stinking cold which has turned into a cough. Im hoping he will return to school tomorrow although he still has a cough he is starting to feel better. Jayden loves school and doesnt like to be off, infact he has insisted on going to school when he has been poorly in the past. Requesting that parents go to the doctors to request proof of illness for a cold or tummy bug (which cant be treated) will put an already stretched NHS under more pressure and make parents feel like hypochondriac time wasters! Most parents will ,and do ,jump through hoops around busy lives to get their children into school to receive education. I appreciate your concern and understand that some parents may not be supporting their children appropriately, I can assure you that we are the sort of parents that would send our children to school 7 days a week and into national service in the evenings.
