Just had dinner at a local Mexican Restaurant and it put me in - TopicsExpress

Just had dinner at a local Mexican Restaurant and it put me in mind of simpler days when we would spend all afternoon in Matamoros. The market of course and a few stores and hot tortillas from street vendors. A stop across the street at a restaurante for the best lemonade in the world. What was the name of the place? Then when we got older trips to bars and clubs. No fears except from the occasional Federale with nothing better to do or an over zealous customs agent on the US side who just knew you had a little contraband hidden in your brightly colored van. I can still smell the scents of the market. It smelled like leather, spices, dyes from the clothes and a million other things, some pleasant and some not, all combined for something unique. This was in the 60s and 70s. Ah well I am getting older and times they do change. Photo is modern photo from Mercado Juarez in Matamoros.
