Just heard on the radio that NB Liquor will be raising the price of a case of beer by 50 cents. Please, any economist, explain to the rest of us how, given that NB Liquor has a monopoly on beer sales, an increase in price will cause an increase in unit sales. Assume for a minutes that I have a $50/month allowance for beer, if the price is $25/case, Ill buy 2. If, however, the price is $16/case, Ill buy 3, the tax revenues generated is greater since, more beer created, trucked, liquor stores are busier, packaging, etc., never mind employment.
