Just heard the news that Doris Guy dies last night. She used to play the keyboard at the Memory Café to give me a break from playing the accordion for our sing song on Fridays. She was smart, funny and a treasure chest of information, particularly where music was concerned, but also about happenings on the islands over the years. She liked nothing better than a good game of euker (not sure if that is how the game is spelt); her partner in crime for most things being Kath Mumford. She was also great at word games and kept me on my toes when trying to provide stimulating activities for everyone as she generally finished way ahead of the rest.... bright as a button. Her health was not good recently but she made every effort to get out and join her friends for a cuppa and a chat when she was able. She was well looked after by Barbara and John and adored her family including Nicola and the great grandchildren. She often told us how lucky she was to have their loving care enabling her to live at home in comfort. We will certainly miss her at the Club. A fond farewell to another great character.
