Just heard the very sad news that Alvin Stardust has passed away. This guy was a legend of British RocknRoll who was previously known as Shane Fenton in the early 60s. Together with the brilliant Fentones, he made several superb records on the Parlophone record label from 1961 on. The Fireballs U.K. will always play some of his songs in our set. We were knocked out, a while ago, because a friend of ours was at a Fireballs gig who was also a close friend of Shane/Alvin. At that gig, we were playing Im A Moody Guy and I was aware of this gent holding his phone up towards the stage. It turned out that hed phoned Alvin and asked him to listen to us playing his great song from 1961. Apparently, Alvin thought wed done a great job of the number and we felt dead chuffed.
