Just home from tonights City Council. We made the following decisions: a) Bob Macnair from the local Steelworkers presented an item to Council in regards to Enforce the Westray Amendments to Canadas Criminal Code. We have endorsed their request in principle and referred it to Staff for a report which will be presented to Council at our next Committee of the Whole meeting b) Council dealt with two recommendations from the last Committee of the Whole meeting pertaining to the Highway 97/Toop Rd/Carson Drive project. One recommendation which was adopted with myself and Councillor Danica Hughes opposed calls for the back drive off of Carson Drive to the Jubilee Place facility to be closed at no cost to the City. The reason I opposed this was because it was a piecemeal approach and this part has not been shared with the public and was not part of the original $24 million (estimated) HIghway 97/Toop Rd project The other recommendation called for the closure of Western Ave near Fraser Inn onto Highway 97. Council defeated this on a tie vote. I voted against this because of no public consultation on this part of the Highway 97 & I was equally concerned about the new traffic flow onto Donald Rd
