Just how big is the American regulatory state? So big that the cost of federal regs for industry and consumers is (gulp) $1.86 trillion, says a new competitive Enterprise Institute report. By comparison, thats more than the gross domestic product (GDP) of India ($1.84 trillion). If you deduct regulatory costs from the US GDP,our reg machine ranks 10th among the worlds economies! Last year federal regulators issued 3,59 rules. Maybe the EPA and all the other agencies could slow down the regulatory pipeline just a tad? this information provided by the Environmental Compliance Alert/May 19, 2014
