Just in case yall might be interested in what im currently studying - TUMOR SUPPRESSOR GENE – The p53 gene is located on chromosome 17, it’s activity stops the formation of tumors. If the pt only inherits one functional copy they are predisposed to cancer. Mutations in p53 can contribute to molecular events that lead to tumor formation. P53 bindes DNA, which then stimulates another gene to produce a protein called p21 that interacts with cell division-stimulating protein (cdk2). Mutant p53 no longer binds with DNA therefore there is no “stop” to the cell division, thus the cells divide uncontrollably and form tumors. you SOOOO totally understand all that right? And thats just 1 section of 1 answer to 1 of my case studies...shoot me now! =)
