Just in case you folks couldnt see it, heres the full text of my response. Most American animation was outsourced. I am more of an animation freak with an anime side-fandom that appreciates ALL animation, regardless of the country of origin. Really its because I grew up in an era where most American animation was actually outsourced to countries like Japan and to companies like Toei Animation to do some measure of contract work. Just look at a series like Muppet Babies. Toei did the first three seasons or so and I know about anime today BECAUSE I watched that series.
