Just in case you were panicking - Hello Kitty is a cat . Shes a cat the same as Mickey is a mouse . Being a cat for Hello Kitty is DIFFERENT than TOM being a cat , although both possess anthropomorphized characteristics . Tom still behaves as a cat behaves where Kitty White behaves as a person . She has a pet cat just as Mickey has PLUTO - a pet dog . People with no imagination have difficulty wrapping their head around the idea that an anthropomorphized animal would have a non-anthropomorphized animal as a pet . Their imaginative solution to this paradox is to reveal that the character is actually a person ( much like corporations are people ;) ) Of course , if you are the sort of individual who considers their pet a person , then this question of identity really doesnt matter at all . ;)
