Just in case youve ignored the post ... What Gen Bakshi is recounting has a context in the present moment ! ... Romantic Liberals, Idiotic Gandhians and politically motivated Secularists have already recreated the weak State that India was in 1962. That, India was an exceptional state based on the soft power of Ahimsa and non- violence & not Hard power. That was Nehru felt (and went about tom-toming abroad). That India had no need for military force. Nehru deliberately refused to modernise or expand the Indian armed forces to face China. His primary concern was the fear of imaginary coups ! His defense Minister Menon humiliated the army Chief so much that the latter was forced to put up his resignation, in 1960. Two years later we faced the disaster of 1962. That is why Gen Bakshi is recounting ... The whole pattern has restarted with UPA. - It has sabotaged our military buildup and had the knives out to sack an army Chief. - Then it hounded the Navy Chief till he resigned. The danger is the RETURN OF THE 1962 MINDSET.
