Just in time for School... For Immediate Release date: July 29, 2014 contact: Jen Thompson [email protected] (980) 523-0000 NCDOT Will Start Construction Of New Roundabout In Union County This Week CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will start work on a roundabout at the intersection of N.C. 84 and Airport Road in Weddington at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, weather permitting. Contractor Blythe Development Co. will close the area where these roads meet through 6 a.m. Friday, September 8. During construction, NCDOT will post a detour for motorists along Rocky River Road, Goldmine Road, Wesley Chapel Road, Potter Road and Newtown Road. The new roundabout will create a one-way intersection that requires approaching motorists to yield to circulating traffic, often eliminating the need to come to a complete stop. This keeps traffic in the roundabout flowing and prevents backups and delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. For real-time travel information at any time, call 511, visit the NCDOT traffic website or follow NCDOT on Twitter. Another option is NCDOT Mobile, a phone-friendly version of the NCDOT website. To access it, type “m.ncdot.gov” into the browser of your smartphone. Then, bookmark it to save for future reference. NCDOT Mobile is compatible with the iPhone, Android and some newer Blackberry phones. For more information, please contact the resident engineer at (704) 289-1330. ***NCDOT*** Copyright © 2014 North Carolina Department of Transportation 1503 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699 (919) 707-2660
