Just just to be clear on my position. I dont recommend the government imposes minimum wage rules on any corporation or business. That said, theres no question companies like wal-mart hardly help the US economy by being allowed monopoly power in retail sales. The criticisms that we subsidize their employees with our tax dollars with benefits this company should be paying their own employees are valid. finally any general observation of the decimated landscape of many small towns particularly in the south over the past 40 years shows money and capital being siphoned out of small town communities into Walmart bank accounts to offshore tax accounts. Main Street small businesses run by local towns people dont hardly exist anymore. NAFTA since 1992.and Asian trade agreements have been DISASTROUS for U.S. manufacturers. Theres no way us manufacturers can pay what Americans perceive to be fair living wages and compete with global slavery manufacturing spread throughout China and Southeast Asian countries.
