Just looked at a photo of the talented Mr Atkinson using his wonderful knife to fashion a clog of sorts. Serious question. Does he need to be bent over that far...having the blocker that low down....seems very uncomfortable does that....obviously he knows what he is doing....thats a given...am just curious. I am thinking about many people doing crafts who explore better postures and techniques to protect the body to stave off injury, repetative strain and fatigue...workshops by Fritiof, Jogge and Steve as examples. Were all the cloggers way back when hunchbacks in later life - not unlike a number of navies I have had the privilege of working with over 25 years ago.....many many years of shovelling and they morph into a weird shape with one side of their body huge compared to the other? This is a serious question by the way.....is this position Mr Atkinson adopts simply due to the fact one uses ones body weight (instead of muscles) to apply the power through the physics of levers and as such, need to be able to be over the piece at the top of the stroke which results in the contorted apearance at the bottom of the stroke. I am truly facinated in such things...the dynamic anthropometrics of various crafts...seems awkward...but there must be a reason.
