Just looked through my January backyard photos and found a few I like. A little context: The house behind us (our lots are small, 6000 sq ft) was neglected for many years - made for a wonderful bird habitat. We put up the feeders, the other house provided the dormitory. Suddenly a year and a half ago, the old guy who lived there lost the house, a house flipper bought it and clear cut the entire property: huge stands of crepe myrtle, pines, vines, etc. We were devastated and our birds were bereft. Many left. We accelerated our native planting project. Gradually, our old friends are returning. I was jumping up and down with glee over the weekend with the return of the little Junco! Nuthatches, Titmice, Chickadees, Carolina Wrens, as well as the Juncos, had disappeared. All have returned now. OK, enough with the story, here are a few pics.
