Just looking at some FB posts of last evenings opening night of the Next Hotel Brisbane and I have to say what happened to a gala black tie Grand opening ??.... Bring back the 90s when glamour ruled and hotel events lasted not one but at least several days. I was blessed to be a guest at these sensational gala opening events and not in any order or preference : Sanctuary Coves Ultimate Event also enjoyed the company of cranky Frankie Sinatra over martinis, Grand Opening of Hamilton Island & Towers 5 days loooong or was it 6 or 7 days so good I cant remember, Keith & Thea Williams certainly knew how to entertain, Grand re opening of Hayman Island just fabulous, WB Movie World and another week long party, loved lunching with Clint Eastwood, Goldie Hawn etc just fabulous CEO John Menzies you rocked Australia, Grand opening Seaworld Nara Resort, Conrad Jupiters Grand opening beyond words, the Burj or Berge Hotel Dubai now that was a serious grand opening (I was a guest of a guest), VIP Oprah did not attend as she decided to stay back in California to protect her home from raging bush fires gee the list can go on and on ... But my most favourite grand opening are the ones I was personally involved with that took every ounce of breath and energy I had, the $10 or was it 15 million weekend Gala Grand Opening of Royal Pines Resort culminating in The Crystal Rainforest being the highlight of the weekend with the Queensland Ballet Company serving the entree to 700 very spoilt guests, Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast and Port Douglas, love them or hate them Christopher and Pixie Skase new how to create the best of the best and nothing was spared, Sheraton Brisbane Hotel & Towers (now Sofitel) Expo 88 that was a black tie event literally every night of the week and what a 6 month party that was hey Adrienne Readings. Not to mention hundreds of glamorous restaurant openings and relaunches of this that and everything but always done with style and black tie elegance ...... Regina King time to write that book haha
