Just lost my grandmother last Saturday. Sylvia Wooten, my Gomma, had Alzheimers. My family will be walking in honor of her this weekend at the annual Alzheimers Walk here in Rome, Georgia. Gomma was 92 and on hospice the last three years. I called her Gomma, because as a toddler I couldnt pronounce Grandmama. Everyone in the family called her that ever since. She will be missed but Im thankful she doesnt have to suffer the effects of Alzheimers any longer and that she was in no pain till the end. My mom has been faithfully caring for her much like Gomma cared for my mom as a baby. She had an amazing will to live, breaking her neck and both hips all within a year around 5 years ago. I will forever remember her and reflect fondly on the great times we had and look forward to seeing her in heaven one day. Love you, Gomma.
