Just one more thing to share as I thought good to know from a resident standpoint. people often feel their street has been missed which isnt really the case. Here is how it works from the city side. We have 67 snow routes divided by 45 secondary streets/22 main streets. Each route takes about 45 minutes to complete depending on snow fall rate. Approximately every other route (depending on vehicle size) each of the 67 vehicles will make a pit stop at the nearest of the two salt depots in the city where we have 4000 tons of salt. The math works that when the snow fall rate gets to multiple inches per hour and you look outside the window, it obviously may look like your street was missed but more often than not it is more a factor of just the route and the truck will be back.
