Just one of the reasons I believe in miracles. 21 years ago a baby girl was born 5 weeks prematurely without fully developed lungs. The baby also had group B streptococcus ( something mothers are tested for now and antibiotics given before birth) which can make a baby stillborn or have serious infection. The wonderful doctors and nurses at Regency hospital were quick to act & had the baby transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital for an echo bed to help with breathing because of her lungs not being fully developed. The baby dropped in weight. The baby required to be on oxygen for a period of time. Through all of this a devoted grandmother, mother and others who did know the baby prayed for her. Eventually the baby would get stronger & be transported back to Regency in the nicu & receive daily treatment for the infection in her lungs. Often it appeared as if they were beating the baby on the back to help break up the congestion. The baby didnt want to eat & it was a chore just to get her to drink an ounce of milk. You would have to squeeze her cheeks to get her to try & suckle no more than a thimble of milk. The baby would get stronger & eventually she would leave the hospital. There were other concerns now. She may have brain disfunction, learning or behavior disorders from lack of oxygen or too much provided oxygen. She may have hearing or vision problems. The baby would eventually grow up to find God as a teenager and is well on her walk with Jesus. The baby now a 21 year old young lady never had a hearing or listening problem. She never had a vision problem, other than normal hereditary. And in regards to the potential for brain, learning & behavior disorders. The young lady will be graduating from Florida Southern College tomorrow Cum Laude. All the glory to God. - Carl
