Just passing this along credit goes to The Actors Fund: The East LA Classic Theatre has been engaged to provide drama residencies to schools (k-12) in Lawrence, Mass. The residencies will be two hours a day, four days a week (Mon-Thur) starting after labor day and ending December 15. They seek those with teaching artist experience, especially those with playwriting and production experience. All applicants must be able to make the commitment to work four days a week. At this point, East LA does not know the exact hour schedule. The pay is $40 an hour plus mileage (between $10 and $20 a day.) Resume examples: TEACHING ARTISTS RESUMES - 2 General Notes: • Go for an uncluttered look. • As a rule, if the top third of the page attracts attention, employers will read further. • The resume should retain the flavor of your individual/artistic talent. • Creative but legible font. • Provide your performance or other entertainment related resume along with your teaching resume if you desire. • At the interview, be prepared to present up to 30 min. of a 5-Day Lesson Plan of your choice. After your Profile, list an additional sub-category: Areas of Expertise 2) The Summary or Profile: • What you say here informs others who and what you are about: it helps define your strengths and interests and specialty/ies, which are then elaborated and supported by the remainder of the resume. • Your Profile or Summary should retain the flavor of your individual/artistic temperament. A good Profile is usually no less than 2 lines and rarely more than four, and includes: 1. The age group(s) you have taught. 2. Your area of expertise, for example; integrating music, curriculum development, cultural diversity, or conflict/resolution. 3. Particular skills/talents/interests/hidden areas of expertise. 4. Your approach to working with students. 3) Professional Experience or Teaching Experience: The format: bold your job title or position and the organization, but do not bold the city, state or year. • Your position or title appears flush with Left margin. • Dates of employment work best flush right. • Describe what you did with the organization or school. • Be specific asking who, what, when, where and why. Similar tasks for different employers work best when worded differently. 4) In some case you might find it necessary to include other categories such as Related Experience and/or Other Professional Experience and/or Relevant Experience in addition to your Teaching Artist background. Related Experience: Useful when you have little or no teaching experience. a) Be inventive and show action when describing duties. b) Define what you did.
