Just past 2 years of sobriety, life is a lot different and so much better from what it was and for that I am very grateful, let me never lose that gratitude. Amazingly, I ran into a guy I was in rehab with today in the supermarket, the first thing he said to me was Its two years and two weeks I knew exactly where he was coming from as I had been very concious of another upcoming anniversary, for me October 16th 2012, the beginning of my journey of recovery. It was so good to see him today to share a moment to reflect on things past and things present, the future will play itself out a day at a time, as it does for everyone, at least these days we both have an even money chance of living a satisfying life, unlike what the odds were, what seems like an eternity ago trapped in a vicious cycle of addiction. Again I am grateful for the rooms that are available to me, the people in those rooms whos honesty reminds me of where I was when I reached my rock bottom, and for the opportunity I get from time to time to go back to where it all started and share my story of recovery with people sitting in the same chairs I was sitting in, not that long ago but a lifetime away...
