Just pondering Tecoma franchisee James Currie this morning whilst having my meditative sweep of the front yard. Started thinking about the wonderful community outcry we witnessed this week when we heard one of our local dads had been fined for returning litter. Does Jamess McDonalds family support him the way we support our own? When the figures come in do his corporate buddies and fellow franchisees give him a little consoling hug? Do they ring him and rejoice when he reports he had a couple of extra cars through the drive thru and figures have spiked? Do they sit and study the McDonalds Handbook section on Brainwashing your catchment zone trying to figure out why its not working? Do they slap him on the back when he gets the local Police out to deal with a pesky litter returner or a local applying chalk on the pavement? Hmmmmm... Sadly I think not :( Im hoping that James will find a way out of this situation. He was sold a lemon by McDonalds. We know it was some sort of sweetheart deal that gained him the extra store hed been pining for (Wantirna)... but the Tecoma site must be a heavy burden to carry (financially and emotionally). I sort of felt sorry for him on the heavily promoted McHappy Day when I witnessed him wiping tables in his empty store... Im sure he would have much preferred to be down the hill in Boronia or Wantirna that day. If only he could visualise the celebration in Tecoma were he to drop the store from his portfolio... Id imagine it would be similar to when we found out that Ferntree Gully franchise Howard Armitage passed on the poison chalice. Does everyone remember that we had a drive thru Thankyou Howard event at Ferntree Gully when we found out :) Howard was even given a special gnomish thankyou gift. Good times :) Well theres a package waiting for James too. All he needs to do is sort this bollocks out. Other smart franchisees have managed to get out of their contracts before, Im sure James has the ability since the outlet is not performing as promised. Tecoma continues to watch and wait... ready to celebrate when the news comes through :)
