Just posted on RS Website: The GREAT Golden Oldies Show – Saturday 3rd. January Saturday at noon is the time to stir up the old grey matter once more and travel back in time with Andy Morris & Rob Craig for 3 hours or so on a journey into yesteryear and play some truly superb tracks – some of which you may have forgotten you once knew. As usual, the show is divided into three with the first hour’s music plucked randomly from our own collections. The second hour is dedicated to this week’s ‘Favourite Year’ and this week we will be travelling back to 1968. It was in 1968 that Ford introduced the Escort that saw the first performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat, the year of the UK’s first heart transplant and James Earl Ray, the murderer of Martin Luther King was arrested in London. Music from that year included tracks from Bobby Goldsboro, Don Partridge, Dusty Springfield and Fleetwood Mac And finally and in the last hour, we’ll revisit our 60’s ‘Vintage Chart’ from exactly 50 years ago. That’s 3rd. January 1965 to be precise and it’s the UK singles chart that we are now following week on week. New entries this week include tracks from Sandie Shaw, The Searchers and Twinkle. As usual I will also slot in our ‘Children’s Favourite’ and take some of you back to your youth to see if you still remember the words to a song that was always being played on the wireless back at a time when you were somewhat younger than you are now.
