Just pulled up the stats on the 2010-2011 KIA Sportage ,from the National Highway Safety Admin . First--the trans blows out soon after 10k miles .This car has almost 13,000 . Next is the electrical system.. The cause of those electrical fires --- Leaky transmission fluid into the 67 wires that operate the electronic controlled transmission . Symptoms included a rubbing sound, followed by noises from the front wheels. Ten case files since January all resulted in fires with one injury as the driver bailed out when the trans locked up and was nearly destroyed by a following auto. This car is a death trap.. The interior courtesy lights have also caused total electrical failure and wire harness melt down--causing the car to be engulfed by a BIG FIRE.
