Just read I522 for myself. The exemptions, criteria for labelling - TopicsExpress

Just read I522 for myself. The exemptions, criteria for labelling as gmo and the required testing of crop samples all raise questions. Not so much about my right to know what goes into my body. (which isnt at all required or addressed by this law). But, more about the motives of the yes side and about why the exceptions are so sweeping. For me, the fact that a label would just say that more than 9 tenths of the weight of the product may be from genetically modified plants or animals or animals that ate gmo feed, but not say how or what was modified, seems like a combination of misleading consumers and more tax put on farmers and ranchers. You should read it if you havent. I think gmo notification is a good idea, but this seems to be more pc than helpful to me as a consumer making informed decisions on what I put in my body. Seems like it could have been written in a way that it would actually deliver what the yes tv spots imply that it would deliver.
