Just read a post about pilots. Here is mine. Dale Lewin and I were at the arming point in Lahr for a 4 ship gun sorte. The first 2 birds went by NP. On the 3rd bird, Dale marshalling and me arming, he came over to me and said that he noticed something with the tip tank. I finished arming and went to look at the starboard tip. There was a screw sticking up from the tail faring. I snugged it down as best I could with the #2 phillips in my pouch as it was a #3. I decided to check the rest and found 7 loose screws on the tail fairing. Got them all tightened and off they went. When the flight came back, the pilot of the bird never said a word, but his wingy came over and said thanks. Im sure that if you were going to eat that tail cone on takeoff, you would be sure to thank the guys that found it.
