Just read this comment Nez Brown - Never though id agree with Wilkie or the Greens but they are absolutely right. I disagree with the approach of following the U.S. request blindly. Shorten has been nothing short of pathetic in not probing on our involvement. We are arming a Kurdish group who has links to a terrorist group in Turkey called the PKK. At one stage we supported Al Nusra and ISIS in its fight against Assad and some evidence suggests we armed them...they moved to Iraq. We (The West) armed Saddam against Iran and then he gassed Kurds and Shiite Muslims. We armed rebels with Al Qaeda links in Libya who stormed the U.S embassy in Benghazi and looted military hardware belonging to Gaddafi in Libya.There is some reports this stuff made its way to Syria to be used again Assad and now Iraq. Anybody who doesnt think the PKK is capable of using the arms we supply against Turks in their quest for statehood is naive. Another question that needs to be asked is if we plan to align with Assad to defeat ISIS in Syria as some have suggested in the US and UK? If so that will do it for me. For ISIS to be defeated the Arab states need to be heavily involved and we must take the back seat.
