Just read this from the US Dept of Ed; Early Learning: Americas Middle Class Promise Begins Early. The presidents Fiscal year 2015 Budget proposal includes $500 million to fund Preschool Development grants. These grants will help states, local education agencies and local governments build the fundamental components of a high quality preschool program or expand early learning programs. To be eligible for funding, prospective grantees must describe how they will expand access to children from low to moderate income families, ensure an adequate supply of high quality preschool slots and qualified teachers, monitor for continuous improvement,partner with local education agencies(schools) and sustain high quality services AFTER the grant period. I wonder if this is why the superintendent and Special Ed Director in Wakefield want to change the Bright Beginnings program for Special Ed students to an Early Childhood program for up to 30 students????
