Just read this in The Gospel Project: Unlike so many of us, - TopicsExpress

Just read this in The Gospel Project: Unlike so many of us, Jesus saw relationships as ends in themselves, not means. In other words, He never befriended somebody because of what they could do for Him. Instead, He welcomed people who had nothing to offer and gave freely of Himself. I am guilty of not following His examples. Through not living in one place for more than 3-5 years at a time I have lost, or lost contact with the few friends I opened myself up for. To save myself from disappointment I have learned how to not put myself in a position of forming friendships, that last long enough to give more of myself or allow people to get close enough to me to give off themselves, that are cultivated into any kind of true relationship. This is a huge problem for me. I want to have the kind of friends that I can help build up and that will help build me up, but my defense mechanisms and social awkwardness (lol), keep me safely away from letting others down or being let down myself. God is working on me with this, though not fast enough in my opinion, and will put me where He wants me in His time. I know, as of right now, I am not fulfilling His plans for me. I will one day though, and He will be there for me the whole way.
