Just read this it will explain itself ... (Part 6) Six months earlier I never would have even considered it, much less thought it would be a situation that could even happen, I mean why in the world would I make such a life long commitment for three children I, in all reality had only recently met. But I also couldnt have not have seen where this was all going either. Their attendance on Sundays was quite regular at this point, and Kevin as well as Stacys father had clearly re-dedicated themselves to learning to walk in Christs love. And were continuing to grow closer to what they were created to be, struggling day in and day out, as we all do. One day after talking with Pastor, Kevin & Stacy asked my wife and I of they could talk to us, they asked if we would be the kids Godparents. This is not a commitment or an answer we would take lightly, we would be agreeing to help them raise these three children to know God, to teach them about Jesus Christ, and about Gods love. All this coming as a result of a conversation with a from a drunk man in a parking lot who was clearly being used by God. After praying and meditating over it for some time, my wife and I both felt honored, but more so convicted that this was indeed something we were supposed to do so we agreed to do it. Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. (Deuteronomy 4:9) Together with Kevin, Stacy, and all three children, the seven of us stood up quietly in front of the congregation and agreed to raise these three children to know the hope of Christ from a much younger age. Certainly they would benefit form having Christ in their lives so much sooner, my hope is that they would heed to Him and Gods will, listening to that still small voice for and eternity. Its not about one, two or even seven people, Christs sacrifice is not only for me, not only for you, its for all generations of our/their descendants to, that will come to know how much they are loved because of the love shown them. That is life ever lasting as far as my feeble human capacity can grasp at Gods will. As many know, when we aspire to do Gods will, and live for Him, to do the right thing, we become a big target for all that is dark and evil, flaming arrows start coming from all kinds of directions, places you would never expect. When we are living in the world, of the world, we are no threat to darkness, when we choose to live for Christ, to intentionally serve and live for God, THAT is when things start getting more challenging! The next year and a half would serve to solidify this fact in the lives of all of us ...
