Just realized today 3/30 is my start of my 17th year at NYCDEP! Feels like a lifetime ago that I started working here!! It has been years of ups and downs for many that have worked here. I have met many wonderful individuals, had the good fortune of having a job that remained open to me when I healed from a horrible accident in 2011 and have worked with amazing supervisors (yes I really liked mine) I met some interesting people along the way; I have lost many good friends much to young to sickness. I have learned to rise above some petty behaviors and I have learned to rise up to stick up for others. Over all I know I am very lucky to have the stability I have with my job and the good fortune of knowing I can live my passion personally. Every year through each anniversary I pause and think of Tommy Howard our Yorktown Alumni that passed away my 1st week at DEP. I remember his service so clearly and the shock of another friend leaving the world much too soon! Heres to the next bunch of years and with me turning 43 next week, I am thinking I may call it at 25 years and on to the next phase of my life fully! :)
