Just received a rare copy of Ram Manohar Lohias book Guilty Men of Indias Partition. He is said to have revealed the inner discussions and to have taken names of great men who were personally brave but collectively stupid. Super excited about consuming every word of this book !! In two days, another copy of V P Menons (Sardar Patels very trusted deputy) masterpiece Story of Integration of Indian States is on its way. In this book, Menon shared the high adrenalin charged meetings that he had with over 500 Kings persuading them to join India in 1947. Am on a more than a 2 year long hunt of V P Menons other seminal work Transfer of Power in which he as a senior ICS officer disclosed how the relatively non-violent political independence of India came about through negotiations with British power holders. The book is out of print and if you have it, just name the price :-) Truly proud to have an amazing collection at my home. Prashant Bhushans The case that shook India, Kuldip Nayyars The Critical years(thanks Kiranmai for this one), a once banned and a another rare report on Indira Gandhis emergency Shah Commission report make up my little library. A copy is in Australia government library, another one in UK library, and I think I may have the 3rd one ;) (Just kidding) If you share similar interests, do come over. We can figure out the chess board of Indian history, the politics and act on a lot of things together for a better India.
