Just received this email Dear Sir, SIV recipients approved for admission to the United States may elect to participate in the Department of State’s resettlement program by submitting a signed copy of the Resettlement Benefits Election Form as soon as possible. If you would like to receive Department of State resettlement benefits, please complete the following items and return them to [email protected] as soon as possible: 1. The Refugee Benefits Election Form. The form can be found on wrapsnet.org/ or by clicking here. 2. A DS-0234 Biodata Form for each case member. The form can be found on wrapsnet.org/ or by clicking here. 3. Please be aware that SIV recipients may request to be placed near a close friend or relative already living in the U.S. on the DS-0234 Form, under Section D, “US Ties.” If you have a close friend or relative in the U.S., provide the full name, address, telephone number, email address and relationship for the individual(s) you desire to be resettled near. If more than one individual is provided, indicate your order of preference. Note that the individual(s) that you request to be resettled near must currently be living in the United States (not living or working overseas), and must be willing to discuss your case with a resettlement agency. Unless you are joining close family members, it may not be possible to honor your request. 4. Please confirm if you do not have any family or friends in the United States. Please be reminded that, if you do not have any family or friends in the U..S., your final destination will be determined by the resettlement agency. 5. Please notify us if your wife is currently pregnant. If your wife is or becomes pregnant, please provide us with her expected delivery date. You must notify us as soon as possible in order for IOM to book your flight according to their regulations. Please note that additional medical documentation may be required. 6. Please send us a scanned copy of each case member’s visa as soon as they are issued by the Embassy. Kind Regards, Refugee Processing Center NOTE: You must travel to the U.S. on an IOM-arranged flight in order to qualify for a travel loan. If you arrange a flight on your own you will not be reimbursed. Should any of the information you provided on the DS-0234 Form change prior to your arrival in the U.S., including pregnancy or the birth of a child, please notify [email protected] as soon as possible. Please be aware that the cost of living and the availability of housing can vary significantly in different locations across the U.S. The Washington, DC metro are including northern Virginia and some cities in California are very expensive places to live and it is difficult to find affordable housing and employment. Furthermore, any resettlement benefits you receive may not comfortably cover the cost of living in these areas. Unless you have close relatives or friends in these areas who are able to provide ongoing financial support and housing until you find employment that covers your living expenses, it is best to allow a resettlement agency to choose a more suitable location for you.
