Just remembering this with nostalgia… General Muhammadu Buhari, - TopicsExpress

Just remembering this with nostalgia… General Muhammadu Buhari, Head of State of Nigeria (1983 -1985), warred against Corruption and Indiscipline. He gave lengthy jail terms to many corrupt officials. The highlight was his attempt to bring back runaway Umaru Dikko, Minister of Transport (1979 – 1983), under Shehu Shagari’s regime (1979 -1983). Britain refused to extradite Dikko back to Nigeria. So, using some Nigerians and an Israeli, Dikko was kidnapped, ‘crated’, en-route to Nigeria but the plan was foiled. Gen. Buhari wanted to punish and jail Dikko for stealing and frittering away our nation’ wealth. Gen Buhari is a Northerner (Katsina). Dikko is a Northerner (Kaduna). Now, compare… President G. E. Jonathan is the current President of Nigeria. He has not done enough (or nothing at all) in stemming Corruption and Indiscipline. The highlight of his indifference to Corruption was the recent Presidential pardon granted to Diepreye S. P. Alamieyeseigha, his former boss, a past governor of Bayelsa state (1999 – 2005). D. S. P. Alamieyeseigha was arrested and charged in the U.K on charges of stealing and money laundering of Nigeria’s money, to the tune of more than £11.8million. He jumped bail (allegedly disguised as a woman) and ran to his haven in the creeks. He plea-bargained for his freedom and lived a quiet life until he was brought back to limelight by his protégé. Soon, he will run for a senate seat. G. E. Jonathan is a Southerner (Bayelsa). D. S. P. Alamieyeseigha is a Southerner (Bayelsa). See the extent M. Buhari went to in order to morally PUNISH a THIEF! See the extent G. Jonathan went to in order to parochially REHABILITATE a THIEF! No two ways about it, it’s Buhari for me in 2015. My personal choice…
