Just returned home from seeing Avery. What a little doll she is:) Her little tummy has expanded to 52 cm. which is as big as it was when she first entered the hospital. The doctors believe from her latest scan that its likely bigger because they think its swollen due to the tumor dying...they arent 100 % sure of this but from what they could see it was less active than it was on the last scan. Hopefully it will shrink from here on out and she will be more comfortable. It has compromised her breathing and she has trouble sleeping. They also think that the fevers and bloody stool may also be due to the tumor and excess fluid its releasing. So, we will take that as a praise. Its day to day for sure! She was having a hard time standing upright and walking because shes so tummy-heavy! Shes like a little teapot, short and stout :) She starts round 3 of chemo tomorrow. We think it will still be awhile for her and her family before she can go home, but we need her well enough to get there! She keeps smiling through it all, though. What a blessing she is, and how much can we learn from these children?
