Just saw Grown Ups 2 - a bit behind I know, but I wished I hadnt bothered as no on in the cast seems bothered either. I liked the first Grown Ups, it wasnt amazing but I did find it funny. Here there are some funny scenes, Tasha Alfie Wood is ashamed that at one point she actually fell of a chair laughing. But this film is so hit and miss and sadly its mainly miss. The first film had a very basic story - group of friends go on holiday together. Here its even simpler - Adam Sandler throws a party - thats it, nothing eventful happens, really nothing. Its amazing to have some very funny actors in one film together and find very little to laugh at. The film feels like Adam Sandler said to his friends - hang out with me, Ill film it, and Im sure well do something funny at some point and then well come up with a storyline afterwards. Which for 20mins might work - Curb your Enthusiasm does a fanatic job of this - but here it doesnt work - the focus is on a pay check and nothing else. This film deserves 1 star, 2 at a push, but please dont pay to see this film, as that might mean theyll make a third one and that will be horrible.
