Just saw Housebound and it does not disappoint. Its your typical haunted house film about a girl who gets put under house arrest in her family home overseen by a mother who might believe in the supernatural and watched by a probation officer who fancies himself a ghost hunter. Strange things start happening when shes back and... yeah. This movie feels a lot like Shaun of The Dead for haunted houses. It has the same dark, knowing humor that isnt too wink-wink ironic to be annoying. The central relationship between the put-upon mother just trying to do her best with a broken family and her delinquent daughter really hold everything together, even though theyre not really together for most of the film. The performances from the two main women are great, as are the other characters who add a little light-heartedness to the whole affair. I wont spoil anything, but... yeah, I wont even say anything about anything. There are a lot of twists I genuinely didnt see coming. Just go watch it. youtu.be/ji8Tsuj3u0c
