Just saw Lawrence of Arabia for the second time. I have seen it twice, both in entirety in one sitting (on different dates, of course) and didnt yawn once. Take THAT cinephile endurance test!! Is it as good as I remember it? Yes. Oh God, yes. Admittedly, I cant recommend it to everyone, as it wont please everyone, as some people are silly. Or maybe they just have a funny sense of fun, I dont know. However, if you wish to watch a staggeringly beautiful film that can also double for a slightly sadistic endurance test (The trick is not minding that it hurts...), has Obi-Wan Kenobi (as in Old Ben, not Ewan McGregor) in an earlier role (his beard is a very majestic black in this movie, and he has a scimitar instead of a lightsaber, apart from that there is barely any difference), a staggering performance from Peter OToole, and, it has to be mentioned, simply mind-scorching, mind-frazzling, mind-exploding photography, then set aside fours hours of your day, grab the popcorn, perhaps drink an espresso beforehand, sit back, relax, and bask in the awe-inspiring majesty that is Lawrence of Arabia. Oh, and another thing. For people who notice this, watch it with someone with slightly bad hearing in a mega awesome surround sound system if possible. The first 10-15 minutes or so is mixed a lot quieter than the rest of the film. It then has a sort of THX logo effect as you turn up the volume (you can just imagine the conversation viewers around the TV:
