Just saw Selma the movie about Martin Luther King, Jr., in time - TopicsExpress

Just saw Selma the movie about Martin Luther King, Jr., in time for the MLK Day on Monday. Highly recommended! Some scenes really remind me of Hong Kong and Ferguson. Sadly history keeps repeating itself. I feel like I need to study the Civil Rights movement and learn from the likes of MLK and Malcolm X. BTW, Malcolm X appeared briefly in Selma, too. One thing I learned from Selma is how the white Americans joined the movement led by MLK. Their conscience led them to join their black brothers and sisters to march to the police. They didnt have to do it but they sensed they had to do it, as human beings. I wonder if we can continue to draw from such movements. I wonder if people of the world now will unite and say no to dictators in China, Russia, North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba and terrorist groups such as the Chinese Communist Party, ISIS, Boko Haram and Al Quada. I wonder how we can organize to work together more effectively. Will non-violent protests still be effective when dealing with regimes such as China? If not, then what would be alternatives? I oppose the use of violence and terrorism, but watching people in China, Hong Kong, Tibet, East Turkestan and Southern Mongolia getting beaten up and jailed at such large scales under Xitlers regime, watching Tibetans and Chinese burning themselves, watching Chinese and Mongolians getting their bodies crushed by tanks, trucks and cranes, watching Uighurs being slaughtered; Watching hundreds of millions of Chinese being brainwashed applauding the regime for allowing them to be happy slaves. And here in America, the violence and injustice and discrimination persist. We got a president whos black but has done little for black Americans rights. I wonder, I wonder..
