Just saw a post by a Jeff somebody or other, touting the need to increase the minimum wage. What crock of you know what!!My comment was: This post just proves that you and way too many others have neither an understanding of basic economics, nor the purpose of the minimum wage. Minimum wage jobs are not and never were suitable for supporting a family. They are not intended to be such. Wages are, of necessity, tied to the actual economic contribution of the employee. The wages for such jobs reflect the reality that people with no experience, and an unproven work ethic tend to make, at best, a minimal economic contribution. When one proves their economic worth by demonstrating industrious behavior and reliability they are in a position to move up or move on to a better paying job commensurate with their now proven value. And so it goes.
